Southern Oregon Fishing Report -

Steelhead Fishing on the Sixes River

Winter steelhead fishing has been fun on both the Elk and the Sixes river just north of Port Orford and will continue to improve over the next month. The coastal rivers drop and clear shortly after each storm and offer fishing possibilities this time or year. Port Orford is just a 3 hour and very scenic drive west of Medford and well worth it!  Anglers on he Umpqua river just north of Canyonville, about an hour north of Grants Pass, have been catching winter steelhead as far up as Stanton Park. The water on the upper and middle Rogue river have been high and we've heard no report of winter steelhead in the system. Winter steelhead usually show up in the Rogue mid January.
