Winter Fishing Opportunities - South Umpqua

The Steers family and friends dominated the south Umpqua this weekend!
January 31, 2017 - This weekend kicked off the winter steelhead season on the south Umpqua river, near Canyonville. Great weather and ideal river conditions encouraged anglers to head to the river. Despite this pressure, multiple fish were caught by most. The Umpqua winter steelhead return appears encouraging and should only improve over the next few months. Rain this coming weekend will increase the river level (needed on this free flowing, dam free river) and it should be back in perfect shape by next week.  If you are looking for a spot to fish this weekend while you wait for the mighty Ump. to recede, the upper Rogue will remain at an ideal level despite the rain.
