Rogue River Salmon Are Arriving in Good Numbers

Upper Rogue river salmon fishing - A large number of salmon made it to the hatchery last week which indicates they are moving quickly through the river system. Their numbers jumped from 7 kings to 181 (and the 1st 6 summer steelhead of the season arrived too). The bite has also been on an increase over the past few weeks with most boats getting at least a couple of chances a day at a spring Chinook.

Spring salmon fishing conditions are ideal right now. The river level has stopped significant fluctuations, typical in winter and early spring, and the river temperature is in the 50 degree range. The weather pattern for the week ahead shows warm mornings and cloudy days and a bit of rain to keep river levels steady. While it's still early, salmon season is off to a good start.

Upper Rogue river fly fishing - Salmon flies are here! The hatch is just beginning and usually lasts for 4 to 6 weeks and is a highlight for dry fly fisherman. If you are looking to catch summer steelhead, rainbow and cutthroat trout on these large dry fly patterns, now's the time.
