Fishing The Rogue River for Spring Salmon and Summer Steelhead

After a busy week, beginning with Memorial Day weekend, the river seems to have quieted and we have seen a fairly noticeable decrease in boats on the upper Rogue river. This morning we were the only boat at the ramp, (well at least for a few minutes). One reason we love Mondays!

Over the past few days the salmon bite has increased a bit and our guides have been catching a mix of hatchery and wild salmon and have seen more salmon being caught in general. The salmon and steelhead counts will continue to improve as we head into the summer months.
Our guides will be fishing the Rogue river for king salmon through September and steelhead and trout through November (and possibly December).

Now is the time to fish for spring salmon and and also a great time to fly fish for steelhead and trout.

Summer is one of our most favorite times to fish, floating the river early in the cool and quiet of the morning, before the heat of the day sets in and the hustle and bustle begins. Summer fishing offers the opportunity to catch some of the best fish of the year, Rogue river kings and our wily Rogue river summer steelhead.
